With it's open air lobby, two sprawling pools and a view of El Arco and Mt. Solmar, The Cape leaves nothing to be desired. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a bottle of complimentary tequila and a room you almost don't want to leave.
Almost.
A glass of champagne and this view? Say no more.
Located next to Port Olímpic, we fell in love with their spicy margarita and bloody mary. The perfect respite from the hot sun during an afternoon on the beach.
You can hike from Fira (where I was staying on Santorini) to Oia along the caldera and see some of the most breathtaking views on the island. The hike is approximately 6 miles and took me around 3 hours to complete. Upon arrival in Oia, I knew I wanted to make the trek down to Ammoúdi Bay, where I had heard you could find some of the freshest octopus on the island.
The trek from Oia to Ammoúdi Bay is approximately 300 stairs, not so bad going down!
The views looking up at Oia and the fresh catch and cold beer made the excursion well worth it and is something I will never forget.
The bluest water you have ever seen, we chartered a boat for a day trip on my 30th birthday. Our captain took us to multiple beaches before stopping at Cala Blanca, where we jumped off the boat into the Balearic Sea.
The water was warm, salty and easy to float in. Many other boats gathered in the cove, everyone enjoying the warm afternoon sun.
After a long days work in London Town it is nice to venture to the 31st floor of The Shard for a refreshing drink. Drinks are pricey, but if you time it right you can come for a sunset cocktail and this spectacular view.
Nestled just north of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park is a green oasis with views of the mountains and surrounding waterfront. The park's Seawall creates a loop around the park providing a path for bikers, runners and walkers alike.
An hours train ride outside Barcelona city center you will find Artcava, a winery producing the famous Spanish Cava.
This is an experience unlike any other I have done. Our guide, Santi, taught us about how cava is made, took us on a tour of the grounds, made us a delightful dinner of traditional Spanish tapas before assisting each of us in bottling and labeling our very own bottle of cava to take home.
Have you ever eaten somewhere and thought "what would I pay to be able to dine here regularly?"
For me, that place is Barrafina in London.
Barrafina is a Spanish tapas bar serving a rotating menu of small plates alongside menu staples.
I stumbled upon Barrafina on one of my very first trips to London and made it a point to go back on every trip since (13 times total). I'll never forget the visit when the staff recognized me and exclaimed "you're back!"
The food is always impeccable and the service outstanding. While most of my dining experiences were by myself, I never felt like I was there alone. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs prepare each dish while conversing with them is such a treat.
Visiting the Champagne Region of France was like a dream come true. Reims, Epernay and Hautvillers were picturesque with their cobblestone streets, lush ivy and welcoming champagne houses.
Highlights included tours at Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon, a visit to Perching Bar (the regions only treehouse champagne bar) and a balloon ride over Epernay. And lots and lots of champagne.
